76/1842 [Medieval manuscripts. Miniatures]. (The Last Supper). Miniature in colours and gold on vellum, 7,3x7,3 cm., on recto of a leaf from a Missal, Paris, ±1400, Latin text, 34,5x25 cm. (leaf), 24x17,5 cm. (text), 22/ 32 lines in 2 columns, verso w. four 2-line initials in colours on gold and seven 1-line initials alternately in blue and gold, recto w. 1 ornamented 4-line initial in colours on gold, two 2-line initials on gold and colours and five 1-line initials alternately in blue and gold, recto w. borders of scrollwork and leaves in colours and gold in all margins, verso w. some scrollwork extending from initials into margin, framed w. both sides visible.

- Gilding and colours occas. sl. worn away; right margin cut sl. short (affecting border).

= Showing the first leaf for the Solemn Evening Mass of the Lords Supper on Holy Thursday. Given the elaborate border decoration and high quality of the miniature probably from a very richly illustrated early 15th century Parisian Missal. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LXXIII.
