= Unrecorded Dutch edition, preceding the first edition. Fine children's book aimed at teaching children the beginnings of mathematics (first publ. Stuttg., 1847): the plate illustrated on p.165 of Lust en Leering differs from the plate in our copy (the top illustration is different and the captions below all three image are differently spaced) and our copy is without title-p. The earliest Dutch edition known was published by D.A. Thieme and H.A. Tjeenk Willink in Arnhem and is dated around 1850 by Buijnsters (p.163-165). The plates, each consisting of 3 or 2 horizontal strips w. images showing objects that young children could recognize, teach the children to count, to add and subtract, to combine, to name colours and forms etc. Lust en leering p.163-165 (calling for a title-p. and 29 plates), referring to the Arnhem edition and the Groningen edition of two similar works by Bohny: "antiquarisch gesproken witte olifanten. (...)". Cf. Rümann 53, Wegehaupt II,374 and Bilderwelt im Kinderbuch 1985. SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE XXV.
