- Partly waterst.; some creases, (closed) tears and sm. holes/ dam. spots; one spot in the centre painted over w. green.
= Rare contemporary "eyewitness" rendering of gruesome scenes of slaughter during the Boxer Rebellion (1899-1901), showing hanging, stabbing and brutal decapitation of foreigners and Chinese christians. The location could not be identified.
- Browned; laid down on paper, closing former tears and strengthening weak spots; closed tear in top margin of silk border; suspension bar loose. Sold w.a.f.
= With modern annot. in pen on loose suspension bar: "Lo Erh-Fêng naar Lu Pao-Shan (= Lu Chih, 1496-1576 A.D.) in het jaar Ping-Tzu 1696 of 1756?".

= The translation of the calligraphy is as follows: "Baishi has painted the taro leaves" and "Beihong has painted the two hens in the fading spring of the year Wuzi (1948)".
- Laid down on board, yellowed; a few rubbed/ vaguely scratched spots; vague waterstain in centre of image.
= Wang Deyin was active as a painter and poet in the province of Fujian during the early years of the Chinese Republic (±1912-1930) and was part of a group of 8 women that called themselves "Eight talented women from Fujian". Her name Qinxiang is a literary name that means "the Immortal on the Chinese lute".
