No copy of this year in NCC; not in Huiskamp (cf. P129ff). This year containing the following poems w. accomp. plates: "Het Pottenmeisje", "De Tabak's Winkel", "De Lepelmaker", "De Kruiden-Winkel", "De IJzerkoper", "De Wagenmaker", "De Blinde", "De Mode-Kraamster", "De Schepenmaker", "De Haar-Kapper", "De Jood met Dekens en Beddeteiken", "Het Nut der Par a Plu", "De Koek-Kramer", "De Loof-Hut" and "De Regt-Bank". = One of the major works by the prolific duo Marshak and Lebedev. Lévèque/ Plantureux p.158f; Lemmens/ Stommels p.347: "These two books [Tsirk and Morozhenoe] of children's poetry mark the start of their life-long collaboration. They also mark a giant leap forward in children's book design. The illustrations, dating from 1924, are executed in ink or watercolour and gouache. (...) In composition they are very straightforward. Every new page in Tsirk shows a new character from the circus, from clown and juggler to elephant and strong man. All are presented doing something, being active and thus bringing movement in the picture." SEE ILLUSTRATION PLATE LI.
