= Interesting letters to Aafjes' regular and trusted editor Kees Lekkerkerker, i.a. extensively on the (clandestine) publications during the years of World War II (Elf sonnetten op Friesland, Kleine katechismus der poëzie and Omne Animal and (unpublished) Zo op het oog and De kwade ruil) and sending Lekkerkerker manuscripts for correction.
"(...) Neen, deze Omne Animal kan ik niet voor je krijgen. (...) Dat ding kost f50, iets waar ik geen flauw vermoeden van had. Er zijn er minstens 300 van gedrukt. Er is dus al met al een bedrag van 15 mille mee gemoeid geweest. Daarvan heb ik zegge en schrijve 200 gulden gehad" [18/07/1944]; "(...) Maar wil jij dan af en toe mijn copie eens doornemen. Ik ben nl.l. een ware brekebeen in Holland's Taal (...)" [22/07/1944]; "(...) Hoe maak je het. De berichten die ons over A'dam bereiken zijn bedroevend. Hiet gaat het wel, wat eten betreft. De mannelijke bevolking wordt uit Friesland weggevoerd (...)" [20/11/1944]; "(...) Ik werk tegenwoordig hard. (...) Aan een lang vers van 4000 regels. 2500 heb ik ervan af. De stof is mijn pelgrimstocht naar Rome. Het put uit, zoiets langs, maar telkens word ik weer opgezweept bij de gedachte aan de ellende die er in de grote steden geleden wordt (...)" [01/01/1945]; "(...) Werkman uit Groningen (de drukker van de blauwe schuit en schilder) is enkele dagen voor onze bevrijding door de S.D. vermoord. Later in een massagraf gevonden. De soldaten hebben zich hier ploertig gedragen op het allerlaatst (...)" [25/05/1945].

Dan wordt het wat meer boter bij de vis. Wil jij het vers persklaar maken? Of is het niet goed genoeg."] and 8 (Frisian) sonnets (8 lvs., "Idylle (Oranjewoud) I", "(...) II", "(...) Ik zag (nog) geen kans iets wat op een vers lijkt te schrijven over 't vliegen (...)" [31/05/1955]. "Hierbij stukje lyrisch proza over vliegen, als inleiding lijkt het mij niet geschikt (...). Ook nog ingesloten een stuk: Katten en kinderen, wat meer over kinderen gaat dan over katten en niet zo erg hoog opgeeft over katten, ik persoolijk houd meer van mensen (...)" [04/06/55].

= Two versions of a poem that Aafjes had been commissioned to write to commemorate the 12½ year anniversary of Uitgeverij Contact in 1946. It was printed in a very large type at Joh. Enschedé en Zonen, Haarlem, under the supervision of J. van Krimpen, in a very small number (3?) of copies, and has never been reprinted since.

Daar staan dus vele druktes en beslommeringen voor de deur. (...) Wat je zeker ook wel interesseren zal, is dat ik bezig ben samen met Henricus en Koeberg een gebarenspel in een te zetten voor de Leidsche Maskerade. Het loopt om Reinald de Zwarte van Gelre en zijn vrouw Alionoor, een Engelsche prinses. (...) Italië begint mij onoverkomelijk sterk te trekken. Het is ook eigenlijk ergerlijk dat ik daar nog niet geweest ben. Maar een Hollandsch dichter moet zooveel andere dingen doen om aan de kost te komen.
