Tale of Old Japan wil graag zelf bezitten (...). Een boek met griezelverhalen voor Meulenhoff is er zonder meer uit deze voorraad (en het vele dat ik zelf ook nog bezit) samen te stellen. Maar eerst werk ik door aan Ooka. Ik ben bezig aan boek 3, getiteld: De koelte van een pauweveer. (...) Zaterdag had ik op Hoorniks receptie willen komen - het heeft niet zo mogen zijn (...)"
